Managing Milk Quality
for
Veterinary Professionals
Quality Milk Production Services is offering the course “Managing Quality Milk for Veterinary Professionals”, for upper level veterinary students, veterinarians and veterinary technicians. This course has been offered since 1988 and is taught annually during July and August at the Cornell University Veterinary College.
The 2 week course covers dairy herd health, emphasizing analysis of farm practices for prevention of mastitis and other aspects of milk quality management. Instruction by field and laboratory staff covers farm and laboratory testing and evaluation of diagnostic results to make sound recommendations to control mastitis. Lectures, discussion, laboratory, farm visits, and student case reports are part of the course.
The Quality Milk Production Services Program (QMPS) promotes the quality of milk by reducing mastitis levels in dairy herds. QMPS is a program of the Animal Health Diagnostic Laboratory in the Department of Population Medicine and Diagnostic Sciences within the College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University, and is supported by the Department of Agriculture and Markets of New York State. As the largest organized program of its type in the world, QMPS extends an array of services to clients within New York State as well as to other states and other countries worldwide.
